I don't think there's a good reason for Binghamton and Johnson City to be separate. They are so similar in every sense (income, development patterns, demographics, etc) that I struggle to think of a reason why either could really oppose merging and basically flow into each other in terms of neighborhoods.
This is in line with what I am referring to and I totally agree. I was also thinking of perhaps a village like Port Dickinson or even the town of Binghamton as well.
