Any info on Theresa NY for year round home. I'm in Watertown now and hate it.
Thanks
If you like rural and being removed from shopping, I say to go for it.
I’d say that if you want to leave Watertown, but stay in the area, I would look into the Carthage/West Carthage area, the Dexter/Brownville/Glen Park area(General Brown SD), Adams/Adams Center(South Jefferson SD), Black River(Carthage SD) or the Calcium/Evans Mills area(Indian River SD) near Fort Drum. All have or are closer to shopping/amenities and have more people. Most have some walkability too.
If you don’t mind a little further out, the 1000 Island communities(Clayton, Cape Vincent and Alexandria Bay) or Sackets Harbor are a little more active especially in the warmer months due to tourism(first 2 are 1000 Islands SD, Alex Bay is in Alexandria Central and Sackets Harbor is in the SD of the same name). There’s also Philadelphia(Indian River SD), a NYPA community with lower electric rates(Theresa(village) I believe is a NYPA community too, but don’t quote me on that).
All of this will depend on your budget and what you are looking for in a community/neighborhood though.
BTW-Theresa is in the Indian River SD and is pronounced Tha-ree-sa.
Hopefully others will chime in.

Watertown blows all the way around, but what specific things do you not like about it? Like ckh asked, what are you looking for in the next place you live?
To be fair to H20town, the southern half of the city has some really nice residential neighborhoods around the high schools(Watertown and Immaculate Heart Central) and Thompson Park. https://www.google.com/maps/@43.9671...7i13312!8i6656

I don't like the lack of police enforcement of laws. Arsenal St is going 55mph most days when it's 30.
Been asking for patrols on my street for 3 years now and nothing.
City government does not respond to citizen concerns unless it involves the "square".
I want to live someplace where I don't have alcoholic rednecks across the street from me wandering around with open beers and driving off.
It's the armpit of the world.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to buy another house in NY. I'm thinking I'd be better off a little farther south.
