I recently bought a new car and paid to have the dealership transfer the registration from my old car to my new one. Got the temp registration sticker on the windshield, insurance changed over , the whole 9 yards. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since I picked up my new ride, and I still have not received the permanent registration sticker yet. Not only that, but my MyDMV account still shows that my registration is for a 2005 Chrysler, which is wrong. My current car is now a 2011 Ford. The $60 check for the transfer of registration cleared on May 1 (I finalized the purchase and picked up the Ford on April 28.

I also notice that the expiration date on the temp sticker is for the beginning of June, June 8 or thereabouts. Both times I've bought cars previously, in 2009 and 2001 (both in NY, both from major-name dealerships), the temp registration was only good for 10 days to 2 weeks, so you got your sticker immediately.

I sent an inquiry to DMV several days ago, but haven't heard anything back. I suppose I should start by calling the dealership, but I wanted to ask here first, in case someone here knows whether they've changed how they operate in the last 8.5 years since I bought a car.

Make sure that the temp registration information(VIN #)is correct, as I’ve seen that happen where it delays the permanent registration.

Good point. I'll check it when I leave work at 5:00.

I'm planning on calling the dealership tomorrow. I like keeping all my ducks in a ruler-straight, well-spaced line.

Same thing with me. Recently got a new car and I have the temp registration in my windshield. The dealership told me no more than 30 days to get it. If I don’t have it by then they said to give them a call.
