In favor of regulated sex industry and think it’s ridiculous to not do so. This needs to come with a heavy hand on the black market industry.

It amazes me how you distort articles.

This was not brought to you by Liberal Progressive Democrats. Community activists fought for this.

Democrats may have introduced the bill, but they were simply responding to their base.

And yes, prostitution should be legal so long as it is not forced prostitution.

It does not need to come with a heavy hand on the black market industry. The only people who should face criminal prosecution are people who FORCE people to prostitute. Such as people who kidnap people and force them to sell themselves and this includes minors and traffickers of immigrants.

I hope legislators don't apply the $15 minimum wage to sex workers, otherwise those brothel jobs will end up in Thailand!

Yea, and the black market is why it’s easy to do so.

The regulations and fees need to not be excessive so it drives the black market out in one direction and cracking down on unlicensed operations needs to come from the other. I agree the people who should face heavy punitive actions are those who force people to sell themselves.

There don't need to be regulations and fees on people selling themselves, and in fact there won't be with these bills.

Someone is broke and cannot pay the rent and faces eviction. So they sell sex for money.

A person desperately needing money to pay the rent or to survive has no time to go through the licensing process, which is just a slap in the face and abuse of poor and people of color.

Bureaucracy in places like NYC often creates and maintains poverty as it selects a few winners at the expense of a number of losers.

What consisting adults do for sex is their business, and that includes if cash is involved.
