Default Good Town To Relocate To In Sullivan Cnty?

I currently live on Long Island, home of skyrocketing taxes and home prices. What towns in Sullivan County would some of you recommend? I am retiring from a NYC civil service job. I'm looking for a town not to far from a good college for my daughter when she graduates HS. Housing in the area of $300,000 for a 4 bed house, on 1/2 acre or so. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.

The only college that is located in Sullivan County is SCCC. I went there after high school, and would not reccommend it, most of the students are from the city and it has a bad reputation. I also went to SUNY New Paltz, which i loved! I live in Sullivan County and the commute to NP is about an hour. Sullivan County is very very busy in the summer because of the hasidic population that it aquires. Monticello, is where walmart is and all the fast food places, etc. Every town is close to one another and a short drive away. Neversink and Grahamsville are considered to be more in the country. Great views, farthest from everything. Liberty is similar to monticello, just not as busy. Monticello has more crime (drug raids, break ins, etc).
