Bear Mountain is nice. How is Harriman State Park? Im looking to Metro-North up there with a bike and bike around. I dont have a mountain bike just a road bike. I know these 2 are sort of connected.

It’s quite large and the lakes are nice including lake swimming / water sports.
The 1000 Islands is up there. I’d say to check out Boldt Castle, the Boat Museum in Clayton, an Uncle Sam Boat tour and if it is going on, the French Festival in Cape Vincent.
There are other options, but I’ll leave it there.

This is the "classic" Bear Mountain cycling route:
It is a steep climb with a rewarding view. If you are not about the climb, there are plenty of other options in the surrounding Bear Mountain.
There are lots of popular routes within Harriman as well. Just scroll to the south and west on the above map. Everything in green is a mapped route and using the site you can get descriptions of the routes and figure out loops and such.
One word of warning, the roads are narrow, curvy, and have meager shoulders, so wear visible clothing and stay as far to the right as practicable (i.e. unless making a left turn, then safely take the lane), and use hand signals at intersections, etc.
