I am looking for some guidance. My partner and I are looking to move out of NJ. He is born and raised in the same town in NJ and I am originally from NYC. We are highly interested in the Catskills area of NYS. My entire life was spent spending my spring/summer/autumn seasons in Burlingham, NY where my grandparents had a summer home. I generally spent my time going to Pine Bush, Middletown, Ellenville, Monticello, New Paltz and going to Lake Minnewaska. Originally we were looking to move to that general area, however, we recently spent a weekend at an Airbnb in Andes/Margaretville. We explored around there, Roscoe and Phoenicia. We really liked Margaretville and Roscoe but are curious about living there. We are hoping to start growing our family and I am concerned about schooling and being able to work without commuting to NYC or Albany. Any information/tips are appreciated.

Sullivan County is an economic basket case and even the new Resorts World Catskills Casino in Monticello is struggling. Roscoe is nothing to brag about and commuting from there to NYC would be a hardship.

I have small kids and I am familiar with that area.
Research your access to medical care, groceries, pharmacies, etc. It wouldn't be my cup of tea personally as a family with little children. I'd want to be closer to Kingston or Poughkeepsie.
