Default Saratoga Sprgs to Albany short-cut?

Hi,
Does anyone have a good commute route that bypasses the traffic? What is a reasonable commute time to expect going from SS into Albany using the best possible route during rush hour? How about during non-rush hour times? Thanks!
P.S. Can anyone suggest a charming place to live closer to Albany with good schools???

I would say...Saratoga to Albany during non-rush hour is 30 minutes. Rush hour....1 hour? I am sure more will come along with more accurate as I don't live in Saratoga, but in the Capital District.

There are great places besides Saratoga if you are working in Albany. Actually I wouldn't recommend Saratoga for someone working in downtown Albany.

There is Averill Park, Bethelhem (sp?), Del Mar, Halfmoon, East Greenbush...many smaller quiant towns. Sartoga is great, but if you work up north....unless you are used to big commutes or work off hours.

Hope I helped.

Live in Voorheesville. Guilderland and Bethlehem are snobby. Voorheesville is classy.

I live in East Greenbush and work in downtown Albany. My commute is 3.5 miles and I never hit any traffic. EG has a small town feel and great schools. It much more country than you would expect a couple of miles from downtown.

Hi DBH,

I would be interested in more info about E Greenbush. What is the vibe? Is it conservative/progressive? E.G. schools/town vs Schodack-- what's the difference? Anything you could share about life in EG would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to answer here or pm me. Thanks!!
