Many lovely towns in Rockland
There are many lovely towns in Rockland County. As a carpenter I have seen nice parts of towns and not so nice parts of towns. I was originally from Long Island myself and the lot sizes and quality of life is nicer in Rockland County. Taxes are less too.

North Rockland
I grew up in North Rockland and LOVED it. Great schools, great neighborhoods, very homey.
Try Stony Point, Tomkins Cove, Thiells, Garnerville.

My favorite part of Rockland:
Montebello/Wesley Hills area along Rt 202 north of Suffern.

Tappan is a wonderful town. I moved here from Jersey and wasn't thrilled about moving to Rockland, but over the past 7 years that I have lived here, I couldn't be happier. I have children who go to Tappan Zee High School, where the teachers and curriculum are amazing, and also have younger kids in the elementary schools, which are also very good. I've made a great group of friends and there are many town-sponsored organizations, activities and many attractions and malls nearby.

My family all live in Rockland. I have cousins who grew up in Nauet, Valley Cottage and Congers. All three of these towns are great. Friendly people- not snooty at all in my opinion.
My cousin and her husband teach in the Orangeburg schools in Blauvelt too and they are good also.
My husband and I are actually planning on moving there too next year or so before our children are school age.
Good luck! I think you can't go wrong with your choices. Just know in Clarkstown - the middle school Felix felesta is kind of huge and overwhelming.

Congers is a great little town..I guess its all of a matter of taste...I suggest to drive around each area..to get a feel for the towns..I live in Stony Point right now..but cant afford the taxes anymore..so time to move..good luck!
