40 views and not-a-one comment. Maybe I should leave it to somebody else to talk about Binghamton.....

I think the Broome County chamber of commerce should hire you. As I mentioned some time back in a post, the NY Times(2years ago) called the "southern tier" one of their 3 picks from across the U.S. for an individual looking to "escape" the city.

Thanks! I needed that encouragement! I was re-reading some old posts about Binghamton and it was repeated several times how the housing prices keep falling here and I thought, with that kind of crappy information out there, how will the area ever shed it's poverty-stricken reputation?!?

It's a great article and I think you should also try to get the Press & Sun to put it on the front page so people here could POSSIBLY see that it's not as bad here as they have been brainwashed to believe. And I also agree that the Chamber of Commerce should probably hire you.....

don't take it personally Upstate-UK. Some topics don't warrant that much comment. (That is, not enough opportunity for whining).

I got tired of responding to the" it's better anywhere else" crowd on the Binghamton threads. Maybe that cr#p might work on some readers to this forum. But if you've been around the states...it's easy to pick anyone of 'em apart.

I love Binghamton!!

I just moved from there but I will move back someday. I was able to sell my house there in 1 week, even. It's a great place to live.

Hi Gold,
Thanks for the message of encouragement.
I am leaving tomorrow morning (Saturday)for Binghamton. I am closing on the house Tuesday.
I'll spend a week or so cleaning and painting and getting it order so it will be ready when I move my furniture from Florida later in September.
I am looking forward to Christmas this year in New York.
I'll travel back to Florida, where I still have a house (for sale) to spend the rest of the winter.
I have family in Onienta (sp) and Sharon Springs. My family was the last hold out in NYC but I'm so glad all the other folks moved upstate..:-)
I'm still an urban person and prefer city life to country or rural living. Binghamton fits me to a "T."
I'll keep you updated about my move.
Thanks again for the message.
Jim
