Oops. Never mind. I just checked it out on the PR website. Forgot what it was called! The bad news is, they aren't looking to start building till Fall, so we may just miss that. Maybe not. Maybe some people will be relocating before that. One can always hope!

It was on my list
Hey Plattsburgher, Sorry again about the delay in responding but Grad class (last one thank goodness) is a doozie. Educational research and statistics !!!! YUCK !!! The home you mentioned is right here on my list. It is on Fuller and in AuSable schools. I too thought it looked doable. Funnier still is that I am going to be looking at one on irish settlement. Thanks so much for the help... I can use every bit. I will try and get here more often to chat too. Can't wait to come up and lay in the snow !!!!! - Taboo

That is funny...........
For whatever this is worth, the house on Irish Settlement Road will be in the Peru School District which is considered a very good district that tends to retain its teachers year after year, and has a fairly settled, but mixed student population which just means that there are local families who have lived on some farms and homesteads for generations but there are new subdivisions and areas that have been developed in the last few years. Peru hosted most of the former Air Force Base families, so they are used to newcomers and would probably welcome you and your kids with open arms. I honestly am not so sure about the Ausable District. I have always gotten the feeling that that school's population is fairly stagnant and it does have one town in its district (Keeseville) that has a really bad rap for trouble. There have been muggings on that town's beach and there have been some thug type behavior in that county that is NOT the norm in other districts (Plattsburgh, Peru, Chazy, etc).........I just wanted to mention that part to you................Hope you don't mind.

EEEKKK !!! Not Thugs
Plattsburgher... I did not know about the thugs, but I know the schools in the Ausable district are high needs and their test scores are not the best. This is why it WAS on the list. Our real estate guy looks up the schools for us when we are not sure.I asked him to set me up so I could look by school district (like he can) and that way I would not have to bother him so much but... not yet. I am EXTREMELY partial to peru schools as they have great sports and all the buildings are on one campus and they are beautiful. We have abou 12 places to go see so hopefully one will be the one. Thanks for the help, connections are good !!!!

Be careful
Taboo,
I have a real stake here. I have located in this region and I'm here to stay so I want to see it grow and prosper. I have to say though that I think you need to be cautious about moving here. If you have a job here or there is some specific economic or social reason to move here then research carefully and my fond welcome to you.

Taboo
Hi Taboo
Chazy is a very nice quiet place. The school from what I have seen is a good one. Every parent I have met there are very involved in both the education & sports their children participate in. They take the time to stop & smell the roses. Their children come first.
I can't wait to return for my next visit. Canning is done from the garden goodies. I have been there to help my cousin with her canning last year & it happened to be pickles.
I live in Southern NJ but my heart is in Clinton County. March 2006 we purchased a small home there for our quiet escape from the rat race here.
Good luck in your searching. The local newspaper The Press Republican - Homepage
is online to catch all the local news etc.
Hope this helps you

Maybe?????????
I think what jha is implying (correctly) that a person from say...........Albany who can work for a bazillion companies doing anything from sales to data entry to telemarketing with little or no skill might have a tough time finding a huge number of offers up here although things are definitely improving................There are a couple of commercial park sites with businesses and Canadians have several companies here and there are state and gov't jobs and school jobs, medically related jobs, and of course service/tourist jobs.......If you are serious about a job, you may have to do what I did when I got here.......Went from office to office, introduced myself and stopped by to say hello and left a resume. I had a fantastic job within 2 weeks. Personal touches and smiles and greetings mean a lot up here...........
Don't think jha meant anything terrible about you coming here, just that if you don't already have a lock on a job or at least your career, it might be tougher.......There is a SUNY here also if you need more college credits.......? Good luck..........
