Power boating is good on the river, sailing, not so good, the lake is better (Oswego). There are marinas along the locks from Oswego to Syracuse but the time it takes you to lock-thru to a place to do some serious boating can be all day, and you have to step your mast down in the canal system.

If Oswego can support a couple of dance schools and martial arts places it should be allright for a hockey school as that is really big here.
