[quote=matt l;291799]Maybe we should all kick back with a stogie and wait until we've spunked all the finite resources out of the earth and then come up with a replacement then???
I would have to know the greenhouse gas emission factors from the stogie before I could analyze this theory.

Honeychrome, you're too Old School! And all of this legacy stuff - hey, I got news for you! your kids are probably going to want out of your rural area as soon as they're old enough and move to the bad, old smoggy city. This "bequeathing for the next generation" is a little too high-minded and self-important for me!
We can't turn the clock back, and that is what you're suggesting by citing energy sources from hundreds of years ago. We're all not going to turn into Amish communities overnight. Fossil fuel is here to stay until we run dry. Only then will we seriously consider anything else. But it will take a crisis point, and frankly, we're not there yet, and probably won't be in my lifetime.
All of this dabbling in alternative energy is window dressing for the media and public consumption. It's the PC response everyone thinks they should give, and what they think everyone want to hear. But it's bunk. If you've ever spoken to a scientist, a physicist, who's not on some special interest payroll, they will tell you we are far, far away from achieving sustainable energy production at a reasonable cost to consumers.
Meanwhile, scam artists like the wind companies are hoodwinking residents and even state and local govts. with their false promises of renewable energy, and laughing all the way to the bank. It's like the old medicine show come to town again. Gee, I guess the clock has turned back in some ways then, and it's true there's nothing new under the slowly enlarging sun!

Actually, I prefer a civil, yet lively, discussion as I think more is shared and accomplished. But, now I know where to go when I am pi**ed off! I will sit back and read that one, eating my popcorn and yelling at the screen. You sure have things covered over there-good for you. And, I don't think you are a jerk, so funny how that is the best response to your VERY TRUTHFUL post regarding the leases and sharing the onfo with others. From what I know, you are right-one can not share any info on anything. Looks like that guys friend found another good piece of toilet paper to sit on while he watches his turbines
Thanks for sharing Navin, i love it. The more chatter about this issue the more information gets out to the public!
I will look into the eminent domain thing around here. I'll be back later.

Oh Navin, you are having quite a time on the other board! I can't read it anymore because it ticks me off so deeply. Big pro-wind over there, sad very sad. I somewhat understand, my parents are originally from Buffalo and Akron NY (yes there is an Akron NY) and much family still lives in the area. I do know how hard it has been in the area/WNY in general-Buffalo has been shafted many times over the decades, downtown is now a ghost town, and people are sick and tired. I get all that. But wow, they really are into this wind-they don't dig deep enough to understand that they are the ones that will be shafted.....once again.
I will lurk to support you Navin, but if I joined that board my self control would be lost in a nano-second. Cheers to you dude, stay strong and have fun playing the message board game.

Why is there a picture of King Diamond next to the thread title on the board?

I gotta be honest
The arguing over their is getting me down a little and has taken me off the topic of which is our only hope. Good common sense zoning. Plus now I have to go get some wildlife management books so I can understand how Industrial wind plants are good for area wildlife. UUUUUUN FREEKIN BELIEVABLE.
Till later, Navin
PS A little inside humor. Navin johnson was the lead character in the movie "The Jerk"

A quick read regarding the siting of a turbine farm instalation. Invenergy is the culprit, again, they are really coming out to be the biggest hores (spelled wrong on purpose) on the US street corner.
http://www.windaction.org/news/7537
Siting is REALLy becoming a problem, more and more folks are finding these monsters about to literally loom over there homes, when there is copious amounts of open space near by. I wonder why this poor siting has become so prevalent? I guess it comes down to bad zoning/ordinances and who will sign for what where. It is the people whom oppose these, and want nothing to do with them that are getting the negative effects!
