If your cousin is intending to use the public schools, I strongly suggest using Homesteadnet.com instead of realtor.com and go to the additional features and select school district. For some reason, around here the town boundaries are not always the same as the school district boundaries.
Also, to cut down confusion, the suburbs/ school districts your cousin might want to consider are: Brighton, Pittsford, Penfield and Fairport. I used to live in W. Irondequoit where there are two synagogues but today there are virtually NO Jews there and felt isolated. It used to be a Jewish suburb but no more. If public school is not an issue, or if diversity is really important to your sister, then the city is an excellent choice. Great places to live and a city school district with some strengths and lots and lots of poverty and problems.
