Singles scene in Poughkeepsie or surrounding areas?
Hi I am 24 years old and I am single living in Poughkeepsie.
I work in a small company working in Information Technology where there is not ONE female around in my place of employment. Does anybody know of any good places in this area (Poughkeepsie/Newburgh/Kingston/etc) I can go AFTER WORK where I can expect to find a good number of single women? Many times I feel mentally sharpened enough to go out somewhere during Sunday-Wednesday after work and I just end up simply going back home bored, sad and alone, and I'm starting to get tired of it. I am considering moving to NYC, but I was wondering if there's something in this area.

HypercubeX --
Almost 1 year ago, I was in your same position. I still haven't found out how to socialize properly in the Hudson Valley area, especially for the young professionals and singles scene... and would usually go home bored on the weekdays. I spent so much time in NYC for the weekends. Eventually, I've decided to pack up and move to the city.
Granted, maybe there were things I haven't done which may have meant getting to meet more people my (our) age in the area. It's a very outdoorsy region of the state... so you might be able to meet other young people by participating in sports and outdoor activities. I never was into those things, but did hear about them from older co-workers who used to do those.

Shadows and Mahoney's in Poughkeepsie are a good bet. Even the Mad Hatter when college is out. Just steer away from it once Marist gets back.
