The Ithaca area used to have a Black population centralized around the South side of Ithaca.
There has been some unhappiness reported in the media in recent years that that community has lost its cohesiveness and the South Side its racial identity.
With the expansion of public transit and the movement of a good chunk of the subsidized housing market to outlying areas that have cheaper living expenses, this diaspora of sorts was inevitable.

This NFL and College Football analyst grew up in New Paltz, where he was a star HS quarterback in the late 1970's/early 1980's and is a graduate of/former player at the University of Tennessee: Charles Davis - NFL Network: On Air Talent
Mr. Davis earned a Master's degree in History at Tennessee during his final season there.
