Tambre- your comment about teachers is so true it's not even funny. I've had teachers in the past who have been exceedingly smart and highly educated, but they were awful teachers. To be a good teacher, in my opinion, you need five things, in addition to the knowledge of the subject: patience, a sense of humor, flexibility, knowledge that different people learn different ways, and knowing how to make their subject interesting.

If all teachers had those, the world would be a better place, I think

Getting back to the subject, most of the teachers I've had at Washingtonville have had many if not all of these attributes. There's always a few less-than-great teachers, but again, that's the same with all schools.

I should join the school spirit group, I never knew how much I liked Washingtonville since I started defending it.

Default Washingtonville Schools

Considering homes in Monroe, but some are in the Washingtonville School District. I keep hearing to stay away. Can anyone provide some insight? Would like to hear from people who have kids in the schools or live there. Thank you.

Our school taxes are extremely high in the Washingtonville school district. Monroe would be a better choice. This way, less students here, lower taxes. Please, choose Monroe Woodbury.

Hi, I have recently found a home in the Washingtonville School district that I love. However, I am getting mixed reactions about the school system. I have 3 children ages 3,6,and 11 and I am expecting baby #4. I was wondering if the horror stories about the middle school and high school were really true. Could it be possible that the school system has changed for the better? I hope so. I am really involved when it comes to my childrens studies. My children are coming from a catholic school background and I chose to move upstate becuase of the burden of paying tuition. I hope I am not making a mistake and now I am really concerned after reading some of the old posts. I really hope that changes have been made. If anyone could please give me some insight on the schools I would really appreciate it. If the middle/high school does turn out to be horrible how strict is Orange county with the zoning laws? Can you go out of the zone and place your child in another school? I just don't want my son to get lost in the mess of things. He is so bright. I'm afraid of all of the gang activity that I keep hearing about. Please help!!!!!!
