Default Washingtonville schools ?

We're planning to move to Orange County this Summer. Currently looking at homes in the Monroe Area. I came across one that I really like and it's in Blooming Grove, Washingtonville schools. I heard that Monroe- Woodbury schools were great but know nothing about Washingtonville. Could anyone who lives in that area tell me somethingabout it? TIA

Washingtonville has transformed over the years supposedly, i live in blooming grove, the school system is corrupt, the people that run the school are horrible, Drive by the school one morning before school and you can see the kids all outside smoking on school property they really all look like a bunch of losers, the town isnt poor its the areas around it, mountain lodge is a big part of Washingtonville's problem, my son went there for his junior year 01, my son was beaten up by 3 students and required plastic surgery, He had also gotten into problems on the bus a few times, I was even starting to think my son was the problem because of all the trouble he had gotten in, but after going to the meeting with the principal and other boys familiys i could see it was not my son who was the problem. I took him out of the school after 01 and got him into burke, No problems there. We moved from Mt. Vernon in Westchester believing washingtonville would be a better place, but the stories my son told me from 1 year in the high school were horrid, i just really didn't expect it, I'm still in blooming grove, i have a 13 year old son in Sacred heart and plan on keeping him in Sacred heart, and sending him to Burke once hes old enough, the extra money is worth it to me to keep him out of Washingtonville's school's. The school is supposedly getting worse and worse every year. There are 5 times as many people in the town then should be, and the school is so overcrowded it sickens me. The school board is just horrible. Do not i repeat do not put your kids in school here.

If you cant afford Monroe, go to Goshen. Monroe is good but at times I think it is way over rated.

I can second what dude123 says. I lived in Blooming Grove for 7 years and finally moved last month because of the schools. My son was in the middle school and my daughter in elementary. The elementary schools are not bad but the middle school has many issues. I have only heard horror stories about the high school. I have never experienced so many teachers that just don't care. There are some good ones there but they are in the minority. I lived not far from Mount Lodge and it is a problem. Monroe schools are good, but the taxes are higher. I've only heard good things about the Goshen schools, I had friends who's kids went there. I'm not sure about the Chester school district, I know it's much smaller than the Washingtonville one.

thank you so much dude123..you have helped me narrow my choices. My oldest who is in the 6th grade goes to catholic school now because the middle school in Bay Shore has a lot of fighting. I don't want to move somewhere that has similar problems, I'm trying to get away from all of this. thanks again!

Is Goshen much farther away? We really wanted to stay within an hour from my husband's job in the bronx.
