Cheers,
I'm looking to find out the info about the residential property tax in Warwick, NY. I know it's fairly high - but what interest me is the trend. How did it change over the last 5-10 years (assuming no improvements were done to the house)? Thanks! |

My parents have lived in Warwick, NY for 33 years. They are high, but not out of line with any other community in Orange County. last year (2007)My parents paid $7200 on a 1970's built Bi-level assessed at $310K in the Town of Warwick. And that is with the STAR deduction for seniors. The house would really be lucky to sell for $250K at this point (needs tons of work).
In terms of tax increases over the years the increases haven't been as hard as other towns like Montgomery, Goshen, Washingtonville. Warwick has always been high... it just been recently that other communities have caught up. In 2004 my parents paid $4200 in school tax and $1500 in county/town/muni. In 2008 we're guessin they will pay $5400 in school tax. In January they paid $2020 in county/town. Again this is with the STAR deduction. That's a $1600 increase over 4 years. It's criminal... my parents own their home yet on a fixed income (retirement) it still costs them $600 per month to live there. |
