Unhappy Great employers, Rochester/Syracuse/Utica

I just recently graduated from a SUNY school and have a desire to stay in New York (Rochester/Syracuse/Utica). Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck finding great companies to work for. I have a BA in History and Communications and would like to do either something media related (publishing, photo, video, print, advertising), or administrative (government, legal, other).

Does anyone have any suggestions for companies in these areas that will hire recent grads with great credentials?

I already know of:
-Time Warner
-Kodak
-Xerox
-Carrier
-Mohawk Niagara
-Lockheed Martin
-Wegmans
-Syracuse University
-All hospitals in all three areas
-A TON of law firms
(Most of that is Syracuse)

What am I missing? Perhaps smaller companies? Any help would be amazing.

The largest employer in Rochester is no longer the shrinking Kodak, but rapidly expanding University of Rochester/Strong Medical Center complex. Healthcare, education, and tech research are where it's at in Rochester (and really the rest of the country) these days.

Raymond Corp.

Employment - The Raymond Corporation

They are in Greene, NY.

I see some marketing postions open that I bet would work well with your communications degree.

Or what about the area newspapers? (to work for, I mean).

Turning Stone Casino is the largest employer in the Utica area - it's about 20 minutes west. They offer all types of positions - not just gambling related jobs.

Others in Utica: Conmed, Zogby International (polling company), Utica College, Mohawk Valley and Herkimer Community Colleges, Hamilton College, Colgate, Oneida County, City of Utica, and quite a few state jobs.

Also, it's Niagra Mohawk, but not the other way around. Although I believe it's called National Grid now - at least in the Utica area it is.

Wow, thanks, that was really helpful because I'm most unfamiliar with Utica, but it's closest to the area that I want to live in.

Thanks everyone else for the help as well!
