Default Skaneateles Elsewhere

Lake aside, (I know that is hard to duplicate!)...

Are there any other beautiful victorian like villages similar to Skaneateles in more of the eastern part of the state, like in the Albany area? I'll post this in Syracuse forum as well.

Thanks!

I've heard that Saratoga Springs compares. I suggest doing a search on that town. Apparently some communities around it are quite lovely, too. (We've never been there, but will be later this summer--much looking forward to it.)

Have you been to Cazenovia and Cooperstown yet? They're great towns in the Skaneateles mold, too.

Also, Hamilton and Clinton are great towns, with lakes not too far away.

Far to the west, check out Angelica, in Allegany County. Beautifully stuck in time.

And Gilbertsville, a bit southwest of Cooperstown, is a world unto itself, too.

Also, I've heard that many New Hampshire and western Mass. towns are like these great Upstate NY towns, which, after all, pretty much follow a New England model (to their great credit).

Good luck and I hope you'll post about your experiences!

I think Lake George could too, as it is a big tourist area an is a pretty nice town from what I hear.
