I literally have thousands of photos of Upstate NY. Here are a few of my more scenic pics....
Skaneateles Lake...from the northern tip facing south
Onondaga Lake....the City of Syracuse skyline can barely be seen through the haze
Oneida Lake.... Frenchman Island State Park
Manlius, NY....a suburb of Syracuse
Lysander, NY...a suburb of Syracuse
Camllius, NY...a suburb of Syracuse
Near Marcellus, NY

Love Watkins Glenn. I'm old enough to remember the auto races in down town......
Taughannock Falls back in the mid 1960's a huge ice tower cone developed below the falls at one time they said it was 150 feet high. Every one came from miles around to view the ice tower, A loud thunderous boom and the whole tower collapsed throwing ice and water hundreds of feet into the air, park personnel fire and rescue from Trumansburg rushed to the over look. Now the big problem all that ice was heading down the gorge with a huge wall of water heading for the lower falls and route 89. It took about a hour they shut down the bridge. And every one on the North side could see better because they where on the stone stairs heading up to the camp grounds. The people on the South side as the ice slammed into the stone bridge. The water backed up and started spilling into the parking area near the foot path on the South side. People running and mass panic and the water flowed over RT89 back into the large field next too the creek.....then into the creek. The smaller chunks of ice pop up on the other side of the bridge. I heard later they brought in Army Corp Engineering and they used dynamite to blast the larger chunks because they figured that it would break apart the bridge.......

guys - these pictures are gorgeous. They give me chills. Thank you so much for posting these pictures. I know all these areas well, as I just moved away from Upstate NY after 30 + years of living there. But I will be back. I promise.

Letchworth is really a tremendous state park... 17 miles long... you really need a couple days to see it all. It has the feel of a mini-national park in some ways. Very fancy and well maintained.
I wonder if people planning to move to Upstate NY realize that New York State has one of the best park systems in the world! I've lived here all my life and I haven't even scratched the surface of the beautiful places to see and camp at...

Letchworth is called the Grand Canyon of the East. Hiking to the Upper Falls ( there are 3 sets) takes quite a while but it is fabulous ( go all the way to the railroad trestle). Take a camera!

This is a link to a photo slideshow of a very special sight to be seen each August near Camillus (outside of Syracuse).

Beautiful pics folks. I'm sure many people would not pick New York State as the home to all these wonderful images. I'll throw in a few from the Fall Creek Gorge in Ithaca.
Beebe Lake on the Cornell University campus
The falls at Beebe Lake and an old power house in the gorge
The scary old power house up close
Further down the gorge, another falls and another power house
Looking further down the gorge (there is another falls around the corner which I did not get a pic of)
At the bottom of the gorge is the largest falls (Ithaca Falls), located 1/2 block from Ithaca High School
Finally, where all the water ends up, Cayuga Lake
