I would think out of all of them, that the taxi and limo thing would be the best bet. I'm not sure about the situation for transportation is, but maybe you could market it towards the campus community there. For instance, when I went to Oswego St., they had a $2 taxi service from the downtown area to the campus. It seems like it did well too and I think it went to the other parts of the city as well.
If you did food, what kind of restaurant or type of food would it be?

business oppportunities in Binghamton area
Sorry to put a damper on your iniiative, but businesses, from large-scale major department stores, to small "mom and pop"-style restaurants are barely making ends meet in our economy. Ethnic foods and restaurants are huge gambles...there are many that open, only to experience extremely difficult operating conditions and then are gone almost overnight. And taxi and limosine services...this personal service industry in already tightly controlled by Yellow Cab and a major limo service. Plus, you'd have hefty insurance, fuel and other expenses trying to operate profitably against a major competitor whose already got the overwhelming market share. To think that the Binghamton University students would be a major customer base...think again, especially when many have their own cars, and others rely upon major carriers such as Shortline Bus Service and others, and what happens to your customer base when school is not in session?
There are jobs available in the health care industry but mostly for licensed professionals. If you've got a B.S. in Nursing, you'll make a fortune but under very difficult working conditions.
Sorry for the glum response, but you need to hear it like it is and not get your hopes up.

BU students...where they eat
Many BU students live in on-campus housing which offers many choices for dining. Others live off-campus where they eat in their rented house or apartment. You will see small numbers of BU students eating in local pizza shops, Chinese buffets, Subways, etc.; the local Wegmans grocery store has a Market Cafe and BU students can always be found there...albeit in small numbers. The local Panera's Bread is a favorite of BU students.
But, there does not seem to be one restaurant or chain that attracts huge numbers of BU students(other than Panera's Bread). Remember...many don't have the time or extra funds to be going out to eat, especially when they are paying high prices for gasoline, books, fees, clothing, food, on and on.
Get yourself a job where you'll have regular income and benefits. To try to open your own business in this area and economy is really foolhardy...you'll be just throwing your money away as the business dies due to lack of customers sufficient in quantitiy to support it.
