Default Anyone know any good camping areas in NY?

Looking for somewhere that we could do a 3 day trip or so.

were coming from NJ so something within 5 hours driving would be best. We really have on preference as what their is to do, but we just want to have a couple things around that we might want to do during the day if we get bored or something.

Only thing that is really of importance, is that we get some privacy. I mean we are young, and want to be drinking and partying. I wouldnt want to be right next to some family or something because it would make both of our trips less fun.

But other then that, we are open to any and all suggestions.

This time of year, the campgrounds in the Catskills tend to be crowded and full of families. If you want to get off the beaten path, but still not too far from NJ, you might want to consider places like Chenango Valley State Park (just north of Binghamton) or Bowman Lake State Park; or, the several state parks around the Ithaca area (Buttermilk Falls, Robert Treman, or Taughannock). The big natural attractions with the Ithaca parks are gigantic waterfalls and gorge trails. See the "Upstate Photo Thread" in this forum for pictures. If you get bored with life in the woods, you might want to consider camping at the Ithaca parks since they are all pretty close to Ithaca (where there is shopping, bars, etc).
