elmira vs elmira heights ? (West Elmira: crime rates, taxes, living)

Im just wondering which has a better reputation.??.
I am mostly considered with lower crime rates and less drugs, i dont really care about conveinance to shopping or entertainment.

Probably Elmira Heights, considering it is a suburban village of about 4-5,000 people. It seems to be pretty much a working class to middle class community as well.

Elmira Heights without a doubt. I believe it is only 1.2 square miles, it is a SMALL village. However, a huge local police dept, and fire dept. Unfortuantely, I have been on both sides of the law in the past. I will say that when I screwed up, and had to be arrested, I was actually thankful the cops were there FAST, and they treated me with the utmost respect even though I was a pain in the ass. Now that I am more mature (LOL) whenever we have had an emergency, or non-emergency, the cops are here in 2 or 3 minutes. If you call 911, they are at your door by the time you hang up... the same for the fire department. Our taxes are higher because we are a village, but is boils down to maybe 400 a year for a 70,000 dollar house, so for that 1.25 a day, you get excellent worth. The street dept. is top notch, you will be hard pressed to find a pot hole. The street I live on was not re-paved for 16 years, but NO potholes. Our street head is famous for paving roads in Africa with a special mix. I do not work for the village, so I am NOT biased, but after living other places, Elmira Heights is awesome. As far as Elmira itself, if you go to West Elmira, the TOWN, outside of the CITY, they are very good, with a local police and fire dept within 20 blocks at the most. The CITY of Elmira is terrible, Drugs, Welfare, Homeless, and major Welfare cases. Takes the cops hours to respond, seems like the city fathers would rather take their pay increases and waste money than to help out the overburdened police dept. The police worked out of a decrepit, leaking old building for years, and now most of it has been torn down, and the police dept. and files are in different bldgs. Instead of the city spending money where it is needed, they want to spend millions on a viaduct promenade for people to stroll, when nobody in their right mind wants to visit the are after 6 o'clock. Sorry so long, but in short, go to Elmira HEIGHTS or to TOWN of West Elmira. Good Luck
