Hello,

I'm a Brit newly relocated from London to Beacon with my husband and greyhound, Jessie. I'm finding it difficult to find a place where I can safely (and legally) walk her off-leash near where I live. I have already taken a look at Fishkill Dog Park and was very disappointed to find a small, scorched patch of grass which she could walk round in a couple minutes. We did live by the Thames, where she had a couple of miles of dog-friendly trails to enjoy. Can anyone advise me or suggest where she can enjoy a good run with other dogs off the lead? We are very near the Metro North station and our nearest open ground seems to be Denning Point - is this a suitable place to walk her off-leash?

Thanks for any suggestions

Claire and Jessie

Hi Claire,

If you find a fenced area near Beacon I would like to know but in the meantime if you contact me I can tell you of a place in Wappingers Falls. My email is longblackdog@gmail.com

Default Dog walking

I am not sure how far you are from the cold Springs exit off the Taconic but a few yards off that exist if the Fahnestcock State Park which has a great many well kept marked trails with ponds for swimming. Highly recommend it. I am a dogwalker in the Millbrook area and go there often despite the 25 minute drive.
Good Luck
