I have full-blown -miss-WNY-panic now! (New York, Buffalo: how much, house, living)

Same to you chief! When you run out of water for your irrigated golf courses....don't come crying to us asking for Great Lakes water!
And when you find you have to much grey/black slush don't try to send it to us.
Remember how nice that is? As the sun hits the landscape and the grey and black strips accent the white snow against the brown mud? All set off by the grey sky with the little ice pellets raining down.
yes...durring late winter, that is pretty nasty and we would love to send it away while it's here... But luckily it's not here forever and we have 3.5 other seasons that are beautiful. I'm pretty sure Las Vegas is ALWAYS barren dessert.

If you hate NY/Upstate NY so much...WHY may I ask do you visit this Forum? There must be something drawing your computer over here...what is it?

Nope A livable but short summer and a great fall. Other than that forget about it. 1.5 nice seasons.

summer lasts about late may to 2nd week in sepetember here...not really that short. Livable? I'd say it's a little more than merely "liveable". Even people who can't handle our winters agree that our summers are jsut about the best anywhere. Nice weather is subjective. Perosnally I think our warm 80-85 degree summers are quite tollerable compaired to the summers in NC where I lived for 13 years. Fall is beauiful as even you yourself admit. Spring is nice once you get to about mid April and things start to finally bloom. December-February is cold and snowy, but at that time of the year it doesn't really bother me; snow isn't as much of a pain then. I'll admit that when it snows through March and sometimes into April it can be nasty and depressing; but that's not 3/4 of the year being "Crappy weather" IMO.

Well it is always a desert--how many days has it rained here this year--perhaps 5 in total?
The thing with brutal summers VS cold winters is you can dress for the cold, whereas there is only so many clothes you can take off before it becomes a crime
How you folks can love that hell hole just blows me away. Gray ugly winters followed by spring of ultimate mud and gray...vacillating between light snow and freezing rain. One December the sun never showed...not even for an instant. Ice storms destroying all the trees in large areas. Roads so slippery even the busses and eighteen wheelers in the ditch.
Then comes summer. Hot and humid and loaded with mosquitoes. And cockroaches and black widows everywhere...
ARE YOU NUTS?? I WOULD TAKE MOSQUITOES OVER COCKROACHES AND BLACKWIDOWS (and wolf spiders, rattle snakes, etc) ANYDAY
As opposed to 80 year old firetraps with mildewed siding and sagging chimneys?
??? PERHAPS IF I LET MY HOUSE GET RUN DOWN, AND 80 YEAR OLD HOUSES HAVE A HELL OF ALOT MORE CHARACTER THAN HOMES IN VEGAS WERE THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME WITH NO YARDS AND NO GRASS--ANSWER THIS, WHAT WOULD A NEW HOUSE IN VEGAS WITH AN ACRE OF LAND COST??? AND WHAT WOULD IT COST IN UPSTATE--A THIRD PERHAPS???
YOu prefer weeks with no sunshine? Icey drizzle down the back of your neck? Waist deep snow? Mud everywhere making walking to the mail box a challenge. Cars with rotted bottoms from years of salted highways?
DIVERSITY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE. WEEKS OF NO SUN?? ARE YOU FORGETTING THE BEAUTIFUL SPRING, SUMMERS, AND FALL. CARS IN VEGAS GET OXIDIZED
As opposed to the mosquitoes and cockroaches and ticks and fleas of upstate? Lime disease?
I WOULD TAKE MOSQUITOES OVER COCKROACHES AND BLACKWIDOWS (and fire ants, wolf spiders, rattle snakes, etc) ANYDAY. LIME DISEASE? SORRY< MY DAYS OF RUNNING THROUGH FIELDS ARE OVER
Clark County is about 1/3 hispanic the vast majority of which are as good American as are you...just the bigotry that makes you feel otherwise. The swap meets are on a par with most places and tend more toward the flea market than those in CA. Sure a lot of hispanics...they are a majority of the poor in Las Vegas and care about swap meets. I have done them all multiple times and have never seen anyone selling ID.
1/3 IN CLARK COUNTY IS ALMOST MAJORITY WHEN YOU TAKE IN ACCOUNT THE WHITES, BLACKS, ASIANS, ETC. GOTO THE SWAP MEET ON CHARLESTON--YOU WILL SEE PLENTY OF ID SHOPS, OR EVEN DOWN CHARLESTON NEAR THE HUNTRIDGE.AS FAR AS MEXICANS BEING AS GOOD AMERICANS--THEY DONT WANT TO LEARN OUR LANGUAGE AND THEY STILL CELEBRATE MEXICAN NATIONAL HOLIDAYS--IS THAT GOOD CIVIC DUTY?? PLUS HOW ARE THEY GOOD AMERICANS WHEN THEY ARENT EVEN CITIZENS??ATLEAST I AM LEGALLY HERE
Water quality is high though it is hard. Common to use a softener and RO for drinking. More for taste though then any problem with quality. Vastly better than the well water in vaste sections of upstate NY.
THE MAYOR HAS EVEN SAID PUBLICALLY DONT DRINK THE WATER. MORE WITH TASTE?? IT SMELLS LIKE CLHORINE. YOU GO OUTSIDE CLARK COUNTY AND THEY ARE USING WELLS ALSO
Ex Californians are the largest group in Las Vegas exceeding the natives. So the nature of the town is a CA city...kind of LA east.
And from all of us in Las Vegas...don't let the door hit you on your way out.
BELIEVE ME CANT WAIT TO GO BACK TO UPSTATE--ENJOY THE CESSPOOL
lol i was born and raised in CA, and now live in the finger lakes of NY...now THIS place is home in my heart, and i will NEVER move back to CA. Sure WILL take the cold and snow and seasons over CA and the deserts' triple digit summers and brown ugly landscape. F*** the heat..dont care if its dry heat...115 is still 115. i look outside in the growing season from may to november, and its every color under the rainbow...green orange red yellow...rolling green hills, lakes streams, natural beauty...i look outside my window in CA...i see into my neighbors kitchen...look out the other window..ugly brown rocks and PLANTED trees. A walk through the woods is just as simple as stepping off my back porch now.
