Rockland County apartments?
My boyfriend & I are moving into the Rockland County area. What are some nice areas to live in (apartments under $1300 a month)?

When I was younger, single, and renting an apartment in Rockland (8 years ago), I settled in Nyack. Depends what you are looking for. But Nyack is a nice walking-town, with a good arts/bar/restaurant scene, and a good availability of affordable rentals.

Yea, I was thinking Nyack... I was looking into Spring Valley NY but it seems like all the apartments the management seems very rude when I call. So maybe Nanuet or Nyack

You don't want Spring Valley. Tends to be more low-income housing. Not much of a nice town. It's the higher crime region of Rockland County.
Nanuet is spread out. Not much of a walking area, and lots of commercial activity. It is very centrally located. It has a well-regarded school district.
If you haven't done it yet, you should visit the areas. But I think once you walk around Nyack -- Main Street, Broadway, and then down to the riverfront, you will probably be sold.

Wolfpack, just contact a realtor. You can also try the newspaper classified. The county newspaper is The Journal News, and you can google their website.

Suffern is also a very nice village, also great dining/shopping/entertainment and commuter trains and buses to NYC...also more affordable than NYack. Clean and low crime...close to NJ tax-free shopping.

Nyack would be top of the list for me - then Pearl River they also hav a nice town with bars/restaurants/shopping within walking distance...If you can find something for under $1300 i would also suggest piermont - but i doubt there is much for under $1300 there...Mod cut: no recommendations from member with fewer than 10 posts
