Default Feedback on Cold Spring, NY

Moving from San Francisco to Cold Spring, NY. Any input on this area? Schools? Safety? Commute to NYC?

Hi there, I can tell you that the commute from Cold Spring is about 1hr 10mins to NYC. I've heard that the schools are good, and from what I can tell the area is quite safe. I live in the city and have been considering moving to the area, myself.

Thumbs up Scenery & History

G.R. : My best friend lived there in late 80's early 90's and spent lots of time on the river. It is right across the river from WEST POINT military academy. Good spot for water skiing cause the mtns block the wind & keep water calm .
. Right there in Battery Cove they made cannons for the civil war & test fired them against Store King mtn as quality control, before loading onto barges.
. The mid 1700's had the revolutionary CHAIN going across the river to block the British, so very much History right there. Good area for Mtn bikes& exercise.
.. Just below there was the filming of a Barbara Streisand Movie set. Can catch some other film celebrities that weekend on the quaint streets, inns.
Not sure of the current schools, housing, but this is a great location if you make friends.
