Talking South African married couple moving to the NY

Hi all

I know we are advised to properly search the forum to see of a query like this hasn't already been broached -- and to some extent it has.
But my case is a little different. My husband is in law and I am in the magazine industry. We'd both like to study and work at the same time but the restrictions on visas are making it difficult. Many have advised that I look for employment at a company that sponsors work visas. I have trawled the net to find out which recruitment agencies assist with placements for internationals looking for work in the US or companies who hire internationals - with no joy.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? My husband is planning to get into the states on a study visa so it's up to me to look for a job in the media industry.

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

What part of NY are you looking to move to? Can you work from home? In what area of the magazine industry would you be looking? Writing, publishing, editor, etc.

I tried posting earlier and either my post was removed or something went wrong. I'll try again....
You may want to reconsider moving to NY- the media/magazine industry is contracting, with Conde Nast and Time Inc. announcing the shuttering of several magazines and significant layoffs. Haven't heard word from Hearst, but I'd expect they won't be untouched by this trend. CN, Time Inc. and Hearst are the big three in NYC as far as magazine/media companies. You'll be competing with a lot of recently unemployed media workers in NYC.
