Default Jamestown, NY on the rise?

Is it just me, or is Jamestown on the rise? I have lived in this area and have noticed a significant change throughout the years here. The areas surrounding Jamestown are getting nicer by the minute, especially the Lakewood area. Am I the only one with this opinion?

Default I was just there

I'm gonna buy a boatload of already rented houses (I can't imagine why the renters are not owning, but whatever). I will help the renters own!! I will and I swear it. I believe in this little town because of the kindness and patience I was shown. I was there for 10 days and I walked everywhere. I was not plagued by crime ( I am a little scary looking) and every single person I met was happy to meet me and extremely kind. I know that there is bad everywhere, but Jamestown kinda hid it from me during my stay. I am not joking, I really will invest there!!! I am a big fan!! I can't live there because of the winter weather, but I will visit every summer I am allowed to. I have also become aware that Jamestown is absolutely ripe for some type of large scale employer. There are bright, hard working people who need to be doing meaningful work. Anybody with Ideas? Throw 'em out there!! I am gonna try my best to bring something positive to the area!!!

Wow ninetwenty4! Nice post and I love your attitude!
My family and I as well have been really impressed with Jamestown, in fact so much so that we're buying a house as we speak and plan to be moving up there at the end of June when school's out. I really can't wait.

Hi Mina, I remember you... congratulations on the purchase and move, really happy for you.

Ninetwenty4, I know Jamestown rental properties are very tempting because of the incredibly low prices, but I've heard several times that it's no picnic. But I'm sure done the right way, it can be successful. You do seem to have a great attitude, sounds like you're after more than just profit. In the long term, I think it's a good investment because Jamestown really does have very good potential.

Jamestown does have a big history with furniture mfg., would be great if that could be revived. Modern furniture is generally crap, I usually look for much better quality older stuff rather than new, would be great to see more locally crafted high quality simple furniture here again, though it would be a tough sell with things as they are.

mina, thats good to hear. It's nice to know that people are willing to invest in Jamestown instead of the lakefront communites. So what if bringing you here from Westchester?

Hi Dragon I think Jamestown is absolutely worth investing in! What a great town. My (soon-to-be) street is paved with red brick pavers- how cool is that?

So what do we like about Jamestown? There's so much! Beautiful countryside, affordability, good place to raise kids, good schools for higher education nearby, proximity to nice water, beautiful old buildings and homes, and it seems like many of the people who live there are really interested in making Jamestown a better place. We are looking forward to being part of a community like that.

My great-grandfather came from western NY to NYC because of the better opportunity it had for him in his day. And we're going right back there for the same reasons in mine. Funny how things cycle like that.
