Thanks so much for responding to my post. It's good to hear positive feedback about the Woodbourne area. I have always found it very beautiful.

There are some year round in Woodbourne and So. Falls, and Mountaindale, Etc. My father was a caretaker for a hassidic camp when i was born until i was 15. My belief is that they are very friendly, however, there are exceptions. The driving in the summer can be hectic. Most do interact, some keep to themselves. I don't see you having a problem, unless you cause one.

Woodbourne is a quiet town, and is the one i'd choose out of the ones u named. It's a close drive to Monticello or liberty, where the food supermarkets are. There are 2 convenience stores in town, a post office, pre school, cemetary. It is also not far from neversink or grahamsville. Again, the towns in Sullivan County are in close proximity to one another.
Where do u plan to work?

I apologize. I failed to realize that you had posted back. I don't know much about Grahamsville as the other locations. As far as garbage collection, I would assume that their are designated days that it is picked up, this pertains to recycling too. Most places here use Sullivan County First and Recycling, which has its office in Woodbourne.
I considered moving to Jeff myself, however, it is to far away from my place of employment. Also, my boyfriend isn't white, which seems to be the dominant race. It is a great little town, i think. It has Peck's grocery store, as well as some other little boutiques. My nieces and nephew attend Jeff school, any my sister in law loves it. She's very involved with the school. I don't know anything much about Callicoon, except it has the church i attend twice a year.
Plenty of wildlife here. You'd be lucky to not hit a deer with your car while living here. lol. abundance of them. Skunks as well, squirrels, chipmunks. etc. Prob more likely to see them in Neversink/Grahamsville driving through.. less traffic. I tend to see a lot of them in people's yards. There are bear as well, I've seen a few, almost hit one with my car. My grandfather shot one (although i hate hunting) when I was younger, and mounted the head on his wall. I was terrified of the thing. Awful. But, yes these animals are all over in Sullivan County. I dont know what a frou-frou dog is, never heard of one.

I'd check out Davos, in woodridge. It's a little area with a bunch of nice homes. If you have a realtor, ask them. Nice homes, fairly priced. My friend and her bf just bought a house there, she's in love with it. Also, Hurleyville has several new homes starting at 300,000. They are built by John Makovich, and he has an office in Hurleyville as well. Amazingly beautiful homes.

Jeffersonville is a nice little town. They have a grocery store there [Pecks] and some little shops. Some cute houses and a real good vet. We live about 15 minutes from Callicoon, they have a Pecks and some little shops too, an Agway. Narrowsburg probably has better scenery with the river and all. The area around Bethal is prettier if you get off of the main road.
My vote is the Woodstock area, High Falls and Stone Ridge too, I grew up in those areas and have always loved them and missed them when I left, I wish I never left. Woodstock is a real interesting town.
Burlington VT is also a great place, you see so many different things there, many different people, many different things to do and the views are unreal. They are like Woodstock as far as they accept different types of people better than some areas do. Pricey though.

Ulster County Towns
Thank you for suggestions to check out Woodstock, Hurley and Stone Ridge. Recently I have been thinking that Ulster County might be a better fit for us than Sullivan County. I would love to live in Woodstock or Hurley, but I believe the housing prices in these areas are out of our budget. Lately I 've been checking some real estate sites online and have found several homes in Napanoch, Accord and Kerhonkson that are in our price range. Do you know anything about these towns?
My husband wants to move to a place that has an artistic vibe -- with a cafe or nearby health food store.
would be ideal. As for me, I'm looking for a place that is comfortable in the summer -- temps in the 80's with cool evenings. I know Woodbourne is really nice in August. Do Napanoch, Accord and Kerhonkson have similar summer weather.
I am not familiar with Stone Ridge and High Falls. Can you tell me a little more about these places?
Once again, I really appreciate your reply to my post.

I sent you a PM. I think for the most artistic I'd have to say Woodstock. There's always something going on and it's a cute town with shops and cafes and galleries, I can't be real sure but I'm guessing they have a health food store there. Levon Helm from the Band still lives up there and has done Midnight Rambles, I'm not sure if he still does or not but I know he has done them. They have a play house up there, not sure if they still put on plays or not. There's just so much history there. It seems to have something for everyone. The worst thing about it is the cost of housing and taxes.
Stone Ridge is a historic town, lots of old houses, pretty views. I haven't lived in High Falls since I was little but to me it still feels like home after all these years. When I was real little they were filming a part of the movie Splender in the Grass at the falls, I can just remember walking there with my mother and our neighbors who were our best friends and we were watching what was going on. I still get a chill when I see the falls, they draw me, I love them.
I don't really know much about living in Napanoch, Accord or Kerhonkson, we go through them on the way to my parent's house and used to spend alot of time at the Accord Speedway when my husband's friend was racing there. They have a country club and a speedway and some pretty houses that's sort of all I know about that area.
Good luck in your search.
