Thumbs up Go to Cold Spring!

Ditto Villager and DMA's comments! Cold Spring is beautiful and riding the Hudson Line is so senic. As with any commuting, however, you have to "give yourself over to it" and realize that the whole system is out of your control, so there's no point getting frustrated.

Since you mentioned one of your choices was living in Bergen County and commuting over the GWB; I assume you'd be taking a bus. Having done both, I would commute by train over the bus.

Bergen County is a nice place to live; I commuted to NYC via bus and train from there for years. Then I moved to Orange County and commuted via train (on the same train line, just way further north and very frequently via the Hudson Line. It's a great way to travel. And, yes, you'll spend some time commuting and your friends and family may not understand why you do it, but perhaps like me, you'll feel like you're on vacation everytime you come home.

Overall, I vote for Cold Spring.

p.s. Checking the tax implications is also a great idea.

Can anyone relate to this type of dilemma and what's been your decision in cases such as this? Thanks.
Choose Bergen County or whatever is closest, commuting is a waste of time and headache. U breath and hear pollution during the time u commute.

mckngbrd is on a distinguished road
we live in CS area (husband takes train) and moved here from Bergen County. If you like the suburbs ....do NJ. If you like a small town, freindly (too friendly???) quiet and nature oriented place. go to cold spring. LOTS of NYC ppl here as well. You can beat the beauty ....we think its special.

Hi everyone, thank you all for your comments. I moved about a month ago and so haven't been checking this. I ended up, sad to say, moving to Bergen County, mainly for financial reasons. The commute was cheaper, no parking at the train, and the rent was less than Cold Spring. It was a very hard choice. I wanted to be up in CS but had to face the reality of my dire financial (debt) situation. Maybe next year....thanks again.
