Welcome! I found C-D through a google search for real estate. And now, I am hooked! I have had questions about gardening, frozen pipes, travel...you name it - all answered here on C-D. I think it's one of the best sites on the web!!

Is there anyway to live upsate NY? Survive taxes? Beat high$ real estate? And simply live comfortably; and love where you live???

Where? It depends on where you live in Upstate NY too. I think there are plenty of places to choose from.

Have you looked in Palenville? Somehow much of the real estate there seems to have escaped the price run-up.

Also if you are willing to be 3-4 hours north of NYC, consider Schaghticoke or Malta, both of which are near Saratoga Springs and have a pretty rural feel. You could definitely have a barn in many parts of those towns.
