Pomona
Hi,
I am thinking of moving out to Pomona up in Rockland County. I work in midtown Manhattan and want to know how long it would take to commute to work. Please let me know how much time it should take and the best way to make the commute.

im from pomona - the best way to make the commute from pomona would probably be to drive. you can also take a bus from nanuet or train from suffern train station...best i would say is still to drive though...from the pomona area...

IMO, the best thing around in Rockland is the Shortline bus from Nanuet (Thruway Exit 14 commuter lot). No exaggeration, 45 minutes into midtown. Costs $14.50 roundtrip (cheaper if you buy weekly/monthly). Plus it doesn't just leave you at Port Authority, it has an actual route around midtown (downtown route too).

It takes me about 45 minutes on a good day. But, I don't drive all the way. I drive down to the Hoboken ferry, take it across, and then I take the free bus to where I have to go......

Like renum, I am also looking to relocate to the Pomona (Rockland County) and am wondering the same thing. My son will be going into 2nd grade.

It depends on what area you're in. He's right, the high school isn't great, but it's still better than some others in the county. But, depending on what area of Pomona you're moving to, the elementary schools range.

There are other options for commuting into the city. One great option coming to Haverstraw this summer is the ferry into the city. It is claimed that it will be a 45 minute trip, no traffic, no delays. Anyone looking to move to Pomona or anywhere within Rockland County, if you need a real estate agent contact me. I can get you listings for homes on the market emailed to you in seconds without leaving the computer.
