Default What happened to original Oneida Community buildings?

Just wondering....

I've read articles and seen pictures of the original buildings and grounds--much of it all was quite lovely. I can't find out what happened to them, and when, though. What's their current status?

Thanks!

vicarian is on a distinguished road
I'm unsure if I understand your question correctly, but the Oneida religious commune known as Oneida Community fell apart in the 1880s...the mansion house is still around, but any other properties asociated with it may have become derelict over the years and demolished in the 1950s and 1960s.

Yes, thanks, Vicarian, this is what I was referring to.

What a shame to have let these buildings just rot and then knock them down!

Was there any move to save them? Why didn't that happen, especially since the state was flush with tax revenue (and spending programs!) in the '50s & '60s?

What is on the land where these buildings stood now? Is it privately owned, or is any of it public or parkland?

Thanks!
