Default Plattsburgh, NY - Questions about bills

We are looking at purchasing a small home in Champlain Park in Plattsburgh, NY. I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on the costs of bills in that area. We are interested in monthly costs of garbage removal, electric and water/sewer. Thanks!!!

Post Home in Champlain Park..........

Hi.......

There are several variables in that area, but I know that your school tax district in Beekmantown and I know that the tax rate is available online. You will not have city electric rates, and I know that natural gas is coming into most of that area in a few months, but believe that some homes have either oil furnaces or propane, and some will have wood stoves so you can lessen your bills. Also most of the houses I know of out that way are not very large in terms of square footage (tax rates/assessment). Most of them do not have basements. Think the original purpose of that subdivision was to be "company housing" for one of the industries located near the lake.......Possibly Georgia Pacific????????? or another mill or factory???? Diamond Industries???? Maybe someone else knows more about this.......Have had friends who lived in that subdivision and some houses there even have lake views if not directly on the lake.

I will try to find out more info, but if you know the square footage and type of heating source that would help.........also, is any of it lakefront? There are some homes in that area that are right on Cumberland Head and have lake rights, so of course their assessments will be more.......

It is about 1000 square feet and oil heat. I am more concerned with electric rates and the cost of garbage removal. Thanks for the help!

I used a sanitation company, they came once a week every friday, 28 dollars a month. Electric is cheap especially in Plattsburgh. I have a 900 square foot log cabin 2 bd / 1 bathroom in Schuyler Falls, near Macomb State Park, electric was 8 - 13 cents a kilowatt. The month bill was no more that 60 bucks and that was the highest. Its usually around 40- 50 dollars. Electric is even cheaper in Plattsburgh.

Smile Yep............

SteveMorse is right on the money..........electric is cheap there but cheaper in the "city".........I've heard over and over for years that we have the cheapest rate in the nation, but don't know real stats for the statement. Many sanitation providers in the county and more upstarts so you can negotiate away for the best rate.......you will be in a good area to negotiate because of so many homes in that neighborhood. The company will want your business because they aren't going to have to drive 10 miles out of their way just to pick up your trash..........and I know natural gas is coming there soon as well........probably summer. Good luck! It's a nice neighborly place. I know a retired hospital (very friendly) lady who lives on Tioga.......all the streets have Adirondack/Mohawk names I think..........

What are some names and numbers of garbage removal places in the area. We are newer to the area and this is our first home so we have little experience or information on this. Thanks!
