Hello cynthiae,

What part of NY are you looking for? Some details would help...do you want a large city nearby, shopping, schools? What else are you looking for besides a general "Bradyville"

Yeah, that would help. In my area, you have communities like Marcellus, Skaneateles, Manlius, Baldwinsville and Minoa, among others. There are plenty of these types of communities in Upstate NY.

speaking of the Syracuse area I always like Chittenango. I had some friends that lived there, and it seemed like a nice out of the way place with all of the amenites of a larger city nearby.

Rhinebeck & Kinderhook in Columbia county.
Altamont in SW Albany county.
Cambridge in Washington co. (also Greenwich, but I don't know if that's Saratoga or Washington county)
Saratoga Springs & Ballston Spa in Saratoga co.

In Central New York-Syracuse:

Manlius 13104
Fayetteville 13066
Minoa 13116
Cazenovia 13035
Skaneateles 13152
Camillus 13031
Bradford/Nottingham neighborhoods, heading eastward toward the Dewittshire/Orvilton neighborhood near Syracuse University 13210, 13224, 13214

***There are really no bad sections of any of these zip codes, perhaps with the exception of 13214... if you find a house in this zip code, look at a map and make sure that it's south of Salt Springs Road. Not that north of it is necessarily dangerous but I wouldn't call it "quiet."

In any area- if you want that Cleaver Family feel, stay in the "Village of ..." areas. That's where you'll find sidewalks and places close enough to walk to easily. If you live in a "Town of...", you might find yourself in a more rural atmosphere- no sidewalks, more of a country life where you're left alone, etc. The upside to living *just outside* the village limits (within a short distance to the sidewalks and village amenities) is that you get all the benefits of a village lifestyle without the added expense of village taxes. (But for us, being right in the center of the village is entirely worth those extra taxes. )

Good luck in your search!
