It's not a white flight issue at all...for most of rockland is mixed/integrated...if you take the time to ride through Rockland you will see that...and while you are here...take a ride through monsey...new square...and see what is going on...people of all colors do not want to live around the Hasid's...even the Orthodox Jews do not care for the Hasid's and their life style...

Are the Hasids being forced to leave New York City?
If so, I can see why they want Rockland County; because land is cheap out there and the Hasids can do what they want.
Some municipalities in Rockland were made specifically to keep Hasids out, while others were made to keep Hasids in.
Also would it be kosher for New York State to require private schools to pay for their own transportation? In Texas private schools are not entitled to taxpayer-funded transportation.

The Hasid's have a plan...that they intent to eventually encompass Rockland County and then Orange County...they simply start by buying one home in an area and then moving in...the first residents are called "Pioneer's"...and of course then there is the big sell off...from the current residents that want to get out before the rest move in...
In Pomona...the Hasid's are planning to build a college, yeshiva, dorm at the corner of 306 and 202... ...this complex will house 4500 plus students and then their family... ...what do you think will happen to Pomona if their complex is allowed to go through... ...

I know about Rockland County. I've been there before.
I was talking about the White families that lived in the Spring Valley area before the Hasid's came to Rockland. It seems like many left when they came and in turn, the Spring valley area became highly Black.
From what Vicman said, I'm sure there is some hard feelings about them voting down the school budgets in the East Ramapo district. Hence, some Blacks are probably leaving the area due to that too.

No one is forcing the Hasid's out of NYC...all you would have to do is to visit Williamsburg - Brooklyn to see that...as a matter of fact...the Hasid's in Brooklyn are linked to the Hasid's in both Rockland and Orange...and land prices...land is not cheap in Rockland...the only advantage is that when they buy a home in Rockland...they usually knock it down and put up a multi-family....
Several municipalities have tried to zone land use to limit excessive building...but unfortunately...somewhere in the law is you cannot make laws that prohibit the building of religious building....you could just ask anyone in Airmont that is paying $75 extra every month in taxes to pay off a lawsuit that the Hasid's won...
It is toooooo late to change the laws here in NY....for there are to many liberal politicians who are kissing butts to get the Hasids vote...and the proof is good old Hillary...who's lovely husband pardoned several Hasid's on his last day of office...and they promised her the NY US Senate seat...

There are many white families that still live in the Spring Valley/East Ramapo area...they are either trapped...or cannot sell for some other reason...as far as the blacks...they to are also being forced out of the area....and just like the whites are trapped or cannot sell...and the same goes for all the other races/colors/sexes/etc...so please do not mention the white flight...for 99% of the Hasid's are white and they are moving in!!
The problem is they basically pay nothing into the system...but strip it dry as much as they can...almost everything they own is in a Yeshivas name...their home...their home phone...cell phone...utility bill...vehicles...etc...etc... so when you and I get a bill there is a NYS Tax, Federal Tax, Surcharges, etc...on almost every one of them...when they get a bill...because it is a Yeshiva...they do not pay those taxes that the rest of us have toooooo...of course...the more of them...the more we pay for them....

I know the Hasids are White. I should have referred to it as non Hasid Whites, as well as Blacks.
It is interesting about how they are able to do this. It almost sounds similar to the issues up here with the Native American groups and the businesses they have.

Do the Hasidic yeshivas engage in overt political activities? If so, see if you could strip them of their tax exemptions.
And is there a way to revise New York State law to see if one could "re-define" what can be taxed in the name of a religious organization.

In understanding the political issues of the Rockland Hasidic community, you need to understand their sheer political power. A massive population, that votes in a 100% block.
It's not a matter of liberals kissing up to them.. or conservatives.. or Republicans.. or Democrats...
It's EVERY politician in their jurisdiction. I have seen first hand, Democratic and Republican Rockland District Attorneys stepping lightly in prosecuting tax and medicare fraud cases against the Hasidic community. Because if pushed hard, that District Attorney would immediately lose re-election.
Want to strip them of tax exemption? Any politican that tries it, would lose re-election.
Why do they get public school bussing? Because they will vote down any school budget that doesn't include it. They can hold the school budget hostage.
It goes all the way up to the state-wide level.
Look at the Kiras Joel school district. (Technically in Orange County). It was a public school, created exclusively for the special education needs of the Satmar Hasidic community. Naturally, the Supreme Court found the entire arrangement to be unconstitutional.
So what did New York State do? Close down the school? No, Republicans and Democrats alike joined together to keep fine-tuning and re-writing the technicalities of the law, to keep Kiryas Joel school open as long as possible. They would re-write the law, and the Courts would again strike it down as unconstitional. And keep going around in circles.
To this day, I'm not sure if the school is finally closed or not.

There isn't be a need for "special" religious school districts - In New York City the Hasids put their special education kids in NYC public schools: Insideschools.org :: School Profile - P.S. 380 John Wayne School
Why should the upstate Hasids ask for special privileges when their NYC cousins are fine with public education for their special education children?
AFAIK a federal judge is all that's needed to strike down the tax exemption. I'm not sure exactly how this works, but AFAIK federal judges are not controlled by the voters.
