Adirondacks
Moderator cut: Talking about moderator actions
My wife and I will be thru the Saranac Lake area this summer and was thinking to stay a nite or two in the Town of the same name (the one with the great little railroad station). Anyone know a B&B or motel they could recommend. When I stayed there for a week it was at a Camp not far from the Young Life Camp (a kayak ride away) but it is too late for us to stay there.
We are non-trashy folks and as I WAS BORN IN ROME NYAND LIVED THERE UNTIL AGE 5 I AM NOT SURE IF OFFICIALLY I WOULD BE AN "OUTSIDER".
Thank you for the info!

We have stayed at a few in Saranac Lake, highly recommend Branch Farm B&B, phone (518) 891-0869. It is about a mile outside of town, on the shores of Lake Flower, super clean, super nice folks.

Saranac Lake is the most unique village in New York State
Saranac Lake is the most unique village (municipal corporation) in New York State:
Some 75 or so villages are located in two or more towns. There are 7 villages which are in two counties. Only one village, the Village of Saranac Lake (incorporated in 1892), is in 3 towns and 2 counties:
Parts of the Village of Saranac Lake are in the Town of North Elba and the Town of St. Armand in Essex County and parts of the Village of Saranac Lake are in the Town of Harrietstown in Franklin County.
The village is named after the Upper, Middle and Lower Saranac Lakes, which are nearby, but not in the village (Lower Saranac Lake is a half mile west of the village). The northern reaches of Lake Flower, which is part of the Saranac River, lie within the village.
The Town of Saranac is an entirely separate entity, 33 miles to the northeast.

Think Saranac Lake has a good Chamber of commerce, so
while I don't know the specific B and B's to recommend......I would look up a few online that have websites.........We aren't that backward up here, actually. And you don't have to worry about a shell game situation up here either. Word of mouth and reputation are extremely important to businesses up here. Whatever you see online as pics and amenities is exactly what you will have........Not always the case across the US, but think that anything listed by the Chamber or Saranac Lake official site would be a good bet. Have a great time getting away..........It is such a beautiful area........Do avoid the black fly season, though............Short but brutal.
