Default Most desirable areas on Lake George

Are there certain waterfront areas in Lake George that are much more desirable than other waterfront areas? Is the Ticonderoga area along Lake George considered desirable?

Bolton Landing is a real nice town.

You can only live and drive to part of Lake George, the western shore(Lake George Village to about 5 miles past Bolton Landing on Rt 9n). The other part is a short way up the eastern shore(Lake George Village to Pilot Knob).

Most of the inhabited areas are pretty crowded until you get past Bolton Landing. I grew up 2 miles past Bolton Landing on Norwest Bay which being off the main body was nicely uncrowded. The Lake between BL and LGV is crowded in the summer but deader than a doornail in the winter.

The lake as it gets near Ticondaroga becomes very shallow, not boatable and the huge paper mill stinks up the air.

Isn't TI on lake Champlain? As a world traveler I wouls say that Lake George
is quite possibly the most beautiful lake in the world.surely there are on "undesirable" places on it!

The northern/NE part of Lake George is actually in TI. Lake George & Lake Champlain are actually VERY close to eachother.

Southern Lake George is more desirable as you may find out when you look at prices. The east side has higher taxes because it is Washington county VS Warren county. Considerably higher.
Bolton Landing is nice, but I know some people who live there would rather be south of Lake George Village because the traffic can be bad during the summer. Queensbury is south of LGV which is where the department and grocery stores are. Assembly Point is a winner.
The town board is also strict on new construction, adding on etc. Some people buy waterfront with big plans and can't get them approved.
Hope this helps, it is an awesome area.

A lot of erroneous info in this post. Ticonderoga is certainly boatable, has the only free launch ramp and pumpout on the lake (Mossy Point) and while there is a paper mill, it is on Lake Champlain and prevailing winds rarely bring any objectionable odor to Lake George. There are lakefront homes in Haque, Ticonderoga, Putnam and other areas off route 22. Ticonderoga has boat ramp access to both Lake George and Lake Champlain, although there is no way to transit between the lakes by boat. (Lake George empties into Lake Champlain via the LaChute River and is approx. 300 ft. higher in elevation)

Srenity is right - Ticonderoga is quite boatable, as evidenced by the many very large boats (they could fairly be called yachts) docked at Snug Harbor. And the state ramp next door is in great condition, there's never a wait, and yes, it's free. The two lakes are 3 miles apart by land - very doable for someone with a small or medium size boat on a trailer.
