The flow of traffic is a bunch of crap! Stay in CT and drive like that. If he was doing 21 over, he could have lost his license right then and there on the spot!
He rightly deserved that ticket! Good for the NYS Trooper for giving it to him. Our roads need to be safer and driving like a maniac is not helping.
If he mails it and pleads guilty, they will mail him a bill. If he doesn't pay it, NY will inform CT. CT can give him problems renewing his license or registration. They can collect the money or tell you you have to pay your NY fine and give them the receipt. This is all shared computerized info nowadays.
It may not affect his CT license, but it will affect your car insurance rates. Maybe now he'll slow his @** down and obey the signs we post here in NY.

hi. i just noticed this page bc...well...i got a speeding ticket. 80mph on a 65mph. ticket does not specify the fine amount. what I was curious about was,,, what is this "reduction in offense" where the local courts reduce the fine mean? Has anyone done this and can tell me how to go about doing the same? Do I still have to plead guilty first?

First of all....you need to slow down!! That being said...here is your answer.
Mail in your ticket with your plea. Do not plead guilty unless you can't in any way make it to the town court where your ticket will go. Mail in your ticket, you will get a date to appear for your disposition where the a DA will be there and will most likely offer you a "reduction in offense" maybe go from an 80 in a 65 which is 15mph over the limit and like 6 points on your license to possibly a 74 in a 65 which is 4 points or maybe lower. Then you can take a class with the DMV to get some more points removed. The more points you have on your license the more your insurance will be....and if you reach a certain number of points, your license will be suspended.

How long does it take to be notified of your day in court, once you send in your plea by mail

I think it is BS to say someone going 80 mph on the thruway or a highway is a maniac and going to fast....
I know that I'm a very courteous driver. I never tailgate even when the person in front of me is going sooo slowwww, I leave appropriate car lengths between me and the next car, I *always* slow down in work zones, etc. But when I'm on a highway, as long as conditions are right I should be allowed to go as fast as I want. "safety issues" is bull. There are safety issues in 30 mph zones, which is why I go 30 mph. But 65 on the thruway? That's ridiculous. It should be 75.

First off, just do the speed limit, unless your driving a long distance speeding saves you what, a minute, probably less. Do the math you will find that the minute savings is screwed up by the red light on the exit. Plus speeding costs more in gas, wears your brakes from high speed stops, its worthless imo unless your driving a long way.
Second, like everyone else said, DO NOT PLEAD GUILTY. Talk to the DA, especially if this is a first offense they will almost always lower it. If your lucky maybe a parking ticket. If you plead guilty you will recieve the maximum fine and more points on your license which will increase your insurance premiums. If your you plead not guilty you will probably have to pay the fine for the original offense, but if it is reduced, you will get less points and pay less on your insurance.

Yeah I definitely agree with that, never plead guilty. New York will almost always let you plead down. And get a lawyer if you can afford it.
