Apartments in Plattsburgh?
My husband and I may be relocating to Plattsburgh very soon, and are completely unfamiliar with the area. It is very important for us to live in a VERY quiet and safe area. On Craigslist we found a vacancy in the Adirondack Gardens complex as well as an apartment on Court Street. Are these good places to live?
Does anyone have any other suggestions? We need a cat-friendly place with rent $1000/mo. or less (preferably less!). Thank you!!!

Apartments in the Burgh........
Last year I did recommend ADK Garden Apts to someone on this site............Things have changed a lot in that area and I know first hand because my child goes to the high school nearby. A few years back, these were fantastic places and the newscast people, some lawyers, etc lived there. Then it was sold and it isn't being kept up at all..........Cross this one off your list.
Court Street can be ok, but it depends on where on Court Street. Court is one of the main thoroughfares from SUNY directly to the downtown bar area (and back again......after the partying ends about oh............3?). I wouldn't consider it either.
There are some other areas.........Apartments at Seth Square near the lake, another group that I need to find the name of that are only about 2 years old, and some brand new ones on a main street but set back that are being offered to college but are being marketed to singles, couples, and others who have the money to afford better quality of life housing..........they are called mycollegesuites?????? Have to do more looking and also find out what street the nicer apartments are on near one of my favorite restaurants in town....If you have other questions, ask away. I will give you an honest opinion and think others will also have opinions as well. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your input, Plattsburgher!!! I appreciate your candor. I did see the various negative comments about Adirondack Garden Apartments and other complexes on previous threads. I am unable to find a website for the Seth Square apartments you recommend. The mycollegesuites apartments look very nice, but on the website they appear to be geared towards college students. I have seen many apartments discussed in the Republican, but know nothing about which areas are desirable and which are not. My husband and I are young but like to enjoy privacy and quiet at home.
I really look forward to hearing your suggestions about the nicer apartments near your favorite restaurant. I look forward to others' opinions and suggestions, as well. We are very excited to be moving to the area!

Hi! I am a student looking to go to SUNY Plattsburg for Grad. I researched the college suites apts and they are really nice. I guess they are brand spanking new. I am considering living there. I am from Buffalo, NY and I would like to know if there is a sites on apartment rentals in the area or any other tips for cheap (but not party) housing. Or any other advise one can get for a newbie to Plattsburg! Thanks!

Top Apts. in Plattsburgh??
Thanks for all of the sites, ckhthankgod. I have reviewed many of them prior to posting this thread. Most have little information, and because we currently live 7-8 hours away, we are unable to view the properties. Many sites that have information seem to be geared towards college students or do not take pets. Are there any apartment complexes, townhouses, etc. that native Plattsburghers would suggest?
Again, we need a cat-friendly rental that is very quiet (no college students/ parties!) and costs $1000/mo. or less.
Thank you, everyone!!!!

Found what I was looking for............
Finally got some info for you...........
The east oval place is in the newspaper ads and says 'spacious 1 bedroom apts......' don't know them or owner, but think they must be nice/new? says pet friendly....showing? Call Bob 518-562-1855
Seth Square isn't as new but I lived there a few years back and they were pet friendly and I could walk across the street and get to the lakefront and continue on down to the city beach which was nice.........very convenient to I-87 and Vermont ferry and was extremely spacious......I had three floors (townhouse), but they have 1 and 2 and 3 bedrooms. If you are a golfer, you have free access to the third oldest golf course in the US. It's just south of town on the lakefront. Call 518-726-0935
This one sounds interesting but don't know where located or who owns......2 bedroom...attached garage (comes in very handy when winter comes!) cat ok. 6 miles from city?????? Heat INCLUDED! 650/month????????????561-6085
This one.........ON LAKE!!!!! could be a dive, but ya never know........storage unit 2 bedroom, no dogs (cats ok) 725 month worth checking out? 563-5423
These may be the ones I am thinking about near my fav watering hole/restaurant.............says brand new 2 bedroom 895/3 bedroom 925no dogs.......561-4347
2 bedroom on LAKE! Listed on Coldwell Banker's ad.............rental incentives for qualified applicants.........563-8265 No price listed........may have assortment? worth a call..........
Just don't get hopes up for Terrace West..........pretty worn..........most haven't been updated in a very long time. It's quiet though and I think the price is good. In fact VERY QUIET and the location is great......near the malls, near college, walk to grocery, fast foods...........many older folks live there. Depends on what is important to you.......
Just do NOT bother with ADK apartments. Have become a dump.......May have one other listing in today's paper............says townhouse I think. Talk to Patty. 2 phone numbers listed......Think it is in my subdivision on base. If it is, she has completely renovated the inside and has all stainless steel applicances.........nice patio/deck/private.....There is a baby next door.......Look in today's paper and see what street it is on.........says no pets, but she would probably be ok with cat..........Not sure if it is her place, but think she was thinking about renting it out.......Keep me posted! Good luck. Supposed to rain on and off this weekend right now, just so you know.

Wow- Thanks so much yet again, Plattsburgher! You are a wealth of information. I have called most of these places but only got an anwer at Seth Square, and the apts. being advertised are not available yet. I will keep you posted on the process!
Also, I notice that most units do not have air conditioning. This is something we typically look for. Is this common in your area?
I was unable to find the ad listing the townhouses you thought might be the same as those you live in. Suggestions?

I know people in this building, and they say it's really nice. This is the old ROTC building, renovated in the past three years. The higher floors have lake/mountain views, and as a resident of the Oval, I can vouch for the quiet. Also, steps from the cheap and charming city gym, a gorgeous bike/jog path, and the vast expanse of the oval, a nice park. And on nice days, walking distance to downtown. Definitely worth checking out.
Good luck.
