Default camping Cooperstown/Oneonta

Looking to go camping at either Glimmerglass or Gilbert State Parks... anyone recommend one over the other?? (or other camps 1/2 between Albany & Syracuse) Just me and my boyfriend. No kids. Not looking for the crazy party camps either though. Would like some moderate hiking trails, clean campsites that aren't on top of each other, boat rental would be nice, beach/swimming. Recommendations??

I have been to Gilbert a number of years ago. We did stayed in a cabin in October. It is nice country, but I think we stayed around the cabin most of the time when we went there. The cabins are very nice however.

I'm partial to Glimmerglass, but both are nice. Gilbert Lake might be more woodsy & quiet. Glimmerglass has a nicer beach and picnic area.

Check out the state campgrounds in the southern ADKs, specifically Caroga Lake, Northampton Beach, and Sacandaga. DEC Campgrounds - NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation
