Default Old Glenham Rd in Fishkill, NY

My fiance and I just looked at a house on Old Glenham Rd in Fishkill, NY and like it a lot. But it just occurred to me that there may be more stip-mall type planned developments coming up. Does anyone know if there are such plans in the works in the near future? I'd hate to move up there to be in the midst of such a development.
thank you

You won't find development for strip malls over near Old Glenham Rd. There's one townhome development on 52 in the works-but it's on hold indefinitely. Most of the development for plazas are confined to the Rt.9 corridor. The town has been talking about what it's going to do with the old Texaco Research recreation property-but that's not going to be anytime soon. Old Glenham Rd pretty much has stayed the same for the last 30 or so years-only a few houses were built and from what I know-nothing to be developed near it. It's a nice place to live-I've got a few friends that live on it and off it. Glenham Elementary is very good too.

Thank you very much for your information. That's good to know and a relief.
In fact, my concerns were exactly about what might happen with the old Texaco Research recreation property and was worried about new housing developments or strip malls being erected on that site.
The area does seem very nice. I was looking at Beacon to start with, but there are less properties with larger acreage and Fishkill seems to have more of those. Property taxes don't seem too unreasonalbe either.

The old Texaco Research center's rec property has been on hold for sometime-I am pretty sure that the town owns it out right. As to the former buildings there-there'd have to be some sort of site clean up or corporation that wants it. I know both my parents worked there in Texaco's heyday. I know off Old Town Road is quite a few homes-newer and older homes. Some have good sized lots back there-some I've seen have at least a acre. I'd advise not buying too close to the creek-avoid flooding problems. But for the most part in that area-all the homes are uphill.
