Default Trains from New York City to Farmingdale

My husband is an AVID golfer. We will be in New York City from July 5 - 11. He would love to take a train to Farmingdale to see, or perhaps play the course at Bethpage as a single. Are there trains that run from Manhatten to Farmingdale? If there are, how long does the trip take? (I already tried googling for this info, but wasn't very successful.)

Use this link: MTA Home Page Go to schedules and click on the Long Island Railroad. Trip should take about an hour or so.

Thank you so much! I hadn't even stopped to consider that the train would be departing from Penn Station. That would explain why my search on another site for a departure from Grand Central was unsuccessful.

It may or may not be important to your husband to know that the http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...tate-park.html, not in Bethpage.

If you want to go to Bethpage State Park, I don't think LIRR is a good option. It is not close to the train station at all. You might want to rent a car for a day and drive there instead.

Then, again, taking the LIRR to the Farmingdale LIRR station and then taking a cab from there to the golf course may be a lot better than renting a car and driving to an unfamiliar area.

You are right. I wouldn't recommend driving in NYC unless you currently live and drive in another city.
