Default Maybe moving to Orange County NY

Me and my husband are looking into moving to Orange county. We have 4 kids ages 1, 3, 5, 12 so we are looking for good neighborhoods with good schools. I was wondering how is the Walden Village area? I was looking at a house school district says Valley Central Elementry school Walden and Middle School is Valley Central along with Valley Central High school? Any advice would be great thanks. Something close to NYC because my husband works in NYC thanks

If you want close to NYC, don't go to Orange County. It will be a huge commute and will either involve the nightmares of driving to the city itself, or driving to a train station. And all the train stations on the west side of the Hudson only go to Hoboken, then you have to switch to a PATH train (and possibly a third time to a subway once in Manhattan). There's a reason the housing is cheaper there......

Honestly it is all elative. If you are talking a 20 minte train ride, forget about it. We live on LI my husband commutes everyday 1hr and 20min via train. The train ride is about the same in OC for the most part unless you were up north than a little longer depending where you get on. We are selling our home and moving to Orange County, we are very familiar with the county as I grew up there and we have been house hunting for sometime. If you select a southern town in the county it would not be so bad. Another suggestion, an eastern county town and you could take the Ferry to Beacon or drive over to catch metro north. I use to do it all the time. The houses are a little cheaper in North West but that is because it is more rural. Any where in the county the taxes are comparitive to LI. OC schools are not terrible, but in my opinion the best are Warwick, Goshen, and Monroe-Woodbury. I have family in Walden, in my opinion it is a little bit interbred for my liking. The worst being Newburgh, Middletown, Pinebush. Good luck!
