dtw1126 is on a distinguished road
I was looking at this thread because i have been looking at houses in alexandria bay. i have not been to new york but it just looks beautiful from the pictures i see on the internet. I live in south jersey and know all about high taxes. so im not really worried about that. i was looking to relocate my family to new york and the 1000 islands looked perfect. i know that it is a tourist area but i have found some fixer upper homes for reasonable prices that i was considering. but with the facts about the few families who run the town and it being a police state, i have started thinking maybe alexandria isnt a good place! im not worried about a night life. i have children and boring is great for our family! we all want to live near the water, which the 1000 islands offer plenty of!
I currently live in a town that has families that have lived here for ever. they dont really run anything but they do think they own everything! im trying to get away from that, so if anyone could tell me if Alexandria bay is really that bad for newcomers, let me know! I am not trying to open a business. Just a nice decent home for my family. Would the finger lakes be a better place than the 1000 islands?

Simple solution....Clayton. Much nicer town, family oriented, beautiful river setting and very peaceful.
