Default finding a doctor in Plattsburgh

i'm looking for a good doctor in Plattsburgh. i'm just about to get insurance for the first time since moving here and i need to establish with primary care physician/general practitioner. any one have any recommendations? or which doctors to avoid?

i have a pre-existing medical condition that requires annual checkups, bloodwork, etc so i'd really like to find a doctor and stick with him or her (or at least their office) so i'm not always explaining my condition every time i have to make an appointment.

i'd like to find an office that is relatively easy to get an appointment without having to wait weeks and weeks (or be a "walk-in" and end up waiting for hours) so i guess i don't want to end up at a clinic where i'll forever be resigned to seeing a PA every time.

i'm not partial to male or female doctors, just as long as they have a decent level of bedside manner.

thanks in advance for any info, experience you can share!

If this helps at all, I cannot think or haven't heard of any GP to avoid at all. As in most towns, there is a shortage of GPs; many more specialists. I would refer you to mine, but he is probably going to retire in the next few years. I have been his patient since I arrived here almost 25 years ago............Don't know what I will do when he retires..........probably just ask around like you are doing...........?

Just a thought, Burlington, Vt. is a short ferry ride away, if your insurance permits explore that med. facility, they have/had some pretty awesome medical people at one point in time.....good luck

i considered Burlington but decided against it simply due to the time and cost associated with traveling there for routine appointments. my plan right now is to pick the "best" ad from the Yellow Pages and give that doctor a try. if they're terrible, i'll just try another.
