Beacon, NY
I have been researching Beacon, NY a bit. It's one of my options as to where I will move. The real estate there seems inexpensive and property taxes are not nearly as much as NJ. I saw that there are plenty of restaurants and shops and the like as well as a bus that goes to NYC, which I need for work. Is there anything else you could tell me about Beacon? Is it a good place to raise kids? how are the schools? how far is a grocery store? shopping for clothes? Thanks. Any info is appreciated.

I've been to Beacon, NY a few times actually and I can say its rather really nice and quiet. There is a good number of shops and restuarants and a good place to raise kids. It seems like its becoming more and more diverse (racially), which I find to be a great thing. All-in-all its a nice little quiet town and you shouldn't have any problems living there if that's somewhere you want to live.

The schools are great from what I seen. It has that nice, cute, smalltown feel. Trust me, Beacon is beautiful, you really shouldn't have any issues living there.

i visited Beacon during the summer and liked it, it was very diverse, main st was ok, with some interesting art galleries actually and some ok restaurants, (a nice soul food restaurant and old fashioned diner. Plus I love towns on the hudson, train stop is a bonus.
I have a friend who lives there and loves the community.
